GROUP LESSONS
$35.00/lesson
$110.00/set of four lessons
Come join us for weekly group riding lessons! Everyone starts in the western saddle, focusing on rhythm and communication skills with the horse. Each week you build on what you have learned, gaining confidence and knowledge.
Our group lessons are offered on the hour starting at 5:00, 6:00 and 7:00 PM, Tuesday through Friday and at 10:00 and 11:00 AM, 12:00 and 1:00 PM on Saturday. When you sign up for lessons, that timeslot is yours until you wish to change to another time or you no longer take lessons. The expectation is that you will attend every week (except for emergencies or illness, of course!) and you can arrive approximately 15 minutes before class, as it's your responsibility to get your horse ready. There may be seasonal adjustments in lesson availability.
General Lessons: eight years old through adult
PeeWee Lessons: five through seven year olds (read below)
Adult Only Lessons: yes, you must be 18+
Advanced Riding Skill Lessons: only available by referral from your current BPS instructor.
We try to limit the size of our lessons to six or seven students to ensure individual attention. We ride rain or shine ... our facilities include an indoor and an outdoor arena...and are offered year-round. During the winter months we may cancel if the weather, without windchill, is 7 degrees or below! (See our FAQ page for complete detail.)
Please call us for current lesson openings. We do not list lesson availability on our website.

As an integral part of our lesson program, ground work such as catching, leading, tying, grooming and saddling the horse is a component of the educational process. The majority of the first lesson will be on the ground, learning safety around horses, basic grooming, saddling, bridling, leading, mounting, dismounting, and very basic communication. Every lesson after that, the student needs to be at the barn 15 minutes prior to the lesson to get their horse ready. If you have a younger student who may have difficulty with some of these areas, we do encourage parental involvement. The student will have the opportunity to ride different horses to expand their riding experience.
Whenever people and horses are together, safety must always come first. A horse is a big, powerful animal with instincts and a mind of its own. Even the most gentle and well trained horse is unpredictable. The best way to be safe around horses is to become an educated horse person and establish good safety practices ALL OF THE TIME. Far from stopping the fun, this lets everyone enjoy riding.
Riding lessons, as in all lessons, require the student’s full concentration. At Bunker Park Stable, we believe every rider should start with a good foundation of basic skills and knowledge and have plenty of experience and confidence at one level before trying to move to the next. However, some people get into trouble because they want to try more advanced activities before their basics are solid. We will continue to move forward with skills and knowledge and work with exercises that will enhance both.
We want your lesson time at Bunker to be fun and educational. Please ask lots of questions and do not be afraid to say that you don’t understand something.
Thank you for your interest in our lesson program. We’re excited to share our love and knowledge of horses with you!

COLD WEATHER REMINDER
When it's the time of year for cold weather, please remember how important it is for your lesson student to sign up for their weekly lesson! If we decide to close due to inclement weather, we will call all lesson students who are signed up by 1:00 pm. If they are not signed up, we won't know to call - and you may drive out here only to find we're closed. As always, if you don't like the weather, call and let us know you're not coming; then ask us to write you in for the next week. Thank you!
